Russian banker Kim buys Serbia’s Marfin Bank Beograd

MOSCOW, Mar 2 (PRIME) -- Russian banker Igor Kim, a co-owner of Expobank, has closed a deal to buy Serbia’s Marfin Bank Beograd from Cyprus-based Cyprus Popular Bank, Kim told reporters on Thursday without disclosing the sum of the deal.

“Yet another deal was closed on February 28 – a merger of a bank in Serbia. Czech Republic’s Expobank acted as a buyer,” he said.

He added that the deal was signed and approved by the regulator last year.

“We plan further merger and acquisition deals in Europe. We will focus on Central and Eastern parts of Europe. Deals in the Balkan States are also possible,” he said.
